Entrepreneurial real estate brokers, and all other types of entrepreneurs, are the most hard-working, focused, and driven people you’ll ever meet! They have a clear vision for success and a strong drive to get there. Furthermore, entrepreneurs are specialists at changing habits. When a bad habit inhibits them, they quickly change it or eliminate it completely.
Stand-out differences about entrepreneurs
Though there are many, one striking difference about entrepreneurs is regarding sanity. Entrepreneurs, though absolutely sane, are crazy! They chart new paths for success, writing their own book on how to get there. In other words, they do things your own way in the face of opposition.
To state another difference, real estate entrepreneurs manage themselves. They may or may not manage staff, but they apply managerial discipline to their own work and responsibilities.
Changing habits by not doing the following 10 things
Now, check out the 10 things real estate entrepreneurs absolutely don’t do:
1. Entrepreneurs don’t procrastinate
The sooner you accomplish your goals, the higher your chances are for success. Being the first in your area with a well-constructed online presence, for example, is imperative for market domination. Entrepreneurs know that “the early bird catches the worm.”
2. Entrepreneurs don’t sleep in
When you’re driven to succeed, your passion is your alarm clock. I’m an entrepreneur. As such, each morning when I wake, my brain kicks into gear immediately. Typically, I get two to three hours of work done before breakfast. Also, I plan, prioritize, research, budget, and then plan some more, every morning.
My creative juices build up when they’re not pouring out. Fortunately, I’m able to put my creativity into action each and every morning.
3. Entrepreneurs don’t work for someone else
Entrepreneurs are each an army of one. Even in a partnership, entrepreneurs drive and command themselves. They maintain their to-do lists, their not to-do lists, and they prioritize and execute their work load constantly. They really know how to be their own boss.
Of course, as the saying goes: “your clients are your boss.” But as an entrepreneur, you are the boss of YOU.
4. Entrepreneurs don’t succumb to failure
Successful entrepreneurs know that failure is part of growth. They learn from it. It molds and shapes them each time they get up and dust themselves off to try another approach.
Failure makes entrepreneurs stronger. They accept it as a function of success and they know how to deal with it well. And, they know there’s no such thing as a risk-free business.
5. Entrepreneurs don’t take success for granted
Failure is commonplace for entrepreneurs. Successful entrepreneurs know how to deal with failure very well. As such, they pick themselves up, take note of what happened, and they plan a new strategy. Don’t act like a fly against a window, trying the same thing over and over until you expire. Start fresh with a new plan.
When entrepreneurs succeed, they don’t bask in their success for long. They know that their next failure is just around the corner. So they plan for it, even when their success is great!
6. Entrepreneurs don’t need capital to succeed
Capital is important. You can’t make your presence known without it. But successful entrepreneurs rely on their plans and strategies first and foremost. They know how to leverage their capabilities in order to accomplish their goals. Referred to as “bootstrap business startups,” starting a real estate brokerage or any other type of business without capital is commonplace. And, real entrepreneurs know how to do it successfully.
7. Entrepreneurs don’t squander money
Money equals capital, and capital is king when starting a brokerage or other business. Successful entrepreneurs understand this well. They minimize their quality of life during the launch of their real estate business startup. Then, they watch every dollar carefully.
8. Entrepreneurs don’t conform
In order to think outside the box and come up with originality and differentiation, conformity must be eliminated. Being a real estate entrepreneur requires an independent mindset. Entrepreneurs are leaders, not followers.
9. Entrepreneurs don’t proceed blindly
To succeed as a real estate entrepreneur, develop have a clear understanding of all obstacles in front of you. Entrepreneurs know their competition, and they know their target market. They’ve calculated and planned their strategies before proceeding. Entrepreneurial vision is a combination of knowledge and foresight, and successful entrepreneurs have it.
10. Entrepreneurs don’t have limits or boundaries
Like Captain Jack Sparrow stated while crossing swords with Will Turner in Pirates of The Caribbean: “The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can’t do.” Of course entrepreneurs must always remain ethical and within the law. But rules are meant to be broken by those who wish to succeed.
Changing habits for the better
I’m an entrepreneur and have started and grown many businesses. As such, I’m very good at changing habits. Also, I write about real estate entrepreneurship, which causes me to continue learning. And the more I write, the more I realize just how important it is to always change your habits for the better.
Unfortunately, way too many people think they’re entrepreneurial, but they’re not. Sadly, the business startup failure rate is about 80% in the first 18 months. Discover why business startups fail.
